Dance: Final Composition

For your final dance piece, you will work in groups of five to compose a dance routine that includes elements of the dances we learned over the past three weeks. We have studied the tango, the salsa and breakdancing.

Your dance composition should:
1) be 45 seconds to 1 minute in length
2) include a minimum of five dance steps you have learned from the tango, the salsa and breakdancing
3) include at least one dance step from each of the three dances
4) be choreographed to a piece of music chosen from the list below titled "Music Choices"
5) have each student participating in the dance - however, you may include solo, duet and trio style dancing if you would like to

For this assignment you will choose one of the planets from the solar system. You cannot choose the Earth or Pluto. Your task is to persuade your reader to leave the planet Earth to come and live on the planet you have chosen. Be sure to give logical reasons to persuade your reader by using factual information from your Science textbook and notebook, and in your Literacy in Action textbook.
 
Your assignment should include:
- an introductory paragraph that is 6 to 8 sentences
- 3 body paragraphs that are each 8 to 10 sentences
- a concluding paragraph that is 6 to 8 sentences

Galaxies of the Universe
 
 
 
Working on your own or with a partner, choose one of the galaxies below. Each galaxy has a list of websites that you will use to research your galaxy. These are the only websites that you can use.
 
Create a fact sheet about your chosen galaxy on a piece of construction paper (8 1/2 by 11) and include the following information:
 
- name of the galaxy
- a made-up slogan for your galaxy (for example; "The Milky Way - Come Play amongst the Stars")
- a picture of the galaxy (can be printed off of the computer or hand-drawn)
- the type of galaxy (example; elliptical, spiral, barred spiral, ordinary spiral, irregular)
